THE memories came rolling back in Biggar last month, when a school reunion was held in the Municipal Hall.

A total of 112 former pupils who attended the town’s High School between 1951 up to 1959, gathered for a nostalgic chat with some old friends.

And there was an international response, with familiar faces coming from as far as Virginia, USA and Vancouver in Canada.

There were also visitors from Ireland, and other parts of UK, including Bath, Bristol, Gloucester, London, Aberdeen.

The event, which took place last month, was organised by Grace Ward Carrick who put on an evening of entertainment and activities.

She told the Peeblesshire News: “A memorable and most enjoyable evening spent at the Biggar School Reunion.

“Piper Ian Scott played for the arriving guests, DJ Cris Cruise entertained the gathering during the evening with his large collection of great 60s and 70s music; Stewart Barrie and his staff supplied an excellent meal and bar and Rikki Duncan captured images to remember on his camera.

"Many enjoyed looking through the various school photos and other childhood memorabilia which was on display. The following day there was also a nostalgic walk round Biggar.

“I would like to thank all those who helped.”
