WORKMEN are due to complete major roadworks into Peeblesshire ahead of schedule.
Commuters using the A702 between Tweeddale and Edinburgh have faced delays and diversions in recent weeks.
This weekend the carriageway will again close from 8pm this evening but it will reopen on Sunday evening rather than the scheduled Monday morning.
A spokesman for engineering firm RJ McLeod said: "The work carried out under closures so far has gone well considering the large amount of work that had to be completed.
"This weekend’s closure is going ahead as planned but will be lifted on Sunday evening rather than Monday morning."
Resurfacing and line-painting will take place next weekend with the route again being closed from 8pm on Friday, November 9 until the following evening.
The spokesman added: "Pedestrian access along the A702 will be maintained at all times.
"Local residents adjacent to the closure will be contacted separately to arrange suitable access arrangements over the weekend."
