THE next step towards the opening of a community shop in Broughton will take place on Monday.
Upper Tweed Community Enterprise Ltd, who are behind the move to reopen the former village store, will host the Community Share launch.
And it is hoped enough shares - priced at £25 each - will be sold for the group to table its offer for the premises within the next few weeks.
A spokesman for Upper Tweed Community Enterprise Ltd said: "The purchase of shares will not only enable the acquisition of the premises but also fund essential repairs, equipment purchase, staff recruitment, and stocking the shelves."
Consultants from Community Shares Scotland and committee members of Upper Tweed Community Enterprise will be on hand to answer questions during the launch.
The spokesman added: "Share offer documentation and application forms will be available.
"Anyone can buy shares - from a minimum of one share for £25 to a maximum of 120 for £3000 - and every shareholder has a single equal vote.
"We will be able to accept payment by cash, cheque, or bank transfer."
The launch event on Monday in Broughton Village Hall starts at 7pm.
