DAVID Mundell has been sacked as the Secretary of State for Scotland.
The MP for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale had been in the role since 2015.
But he is among a number of cabinet ministers to have been sacked by new Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Mr Mundell said: “[I am] Disappointed but not surprised to be leaving the Scotland Office after nine years.
“[I] Will, of course, support the new Government, but as I said to PM this afternoon I will also hold him to account on his commitments to the Union.
“Hope there’s still room on the backbenches.”
