THE Fiona Henderson School of Dance in Peebles took Silver at this year's 7th Annual Dance School of The Year Awards.

Having previously won Gold in 2018 in the category of schools with ver 200 students, in the newly created schools with over 300 students category, the FHSD chasséd past the competition to take second place.

Schools entered in this year's competition came from all across the world, including Canada and Australia.

But the only dance school to represent Scotland was FHSD, which makes its victory even more special.

Coming up to its 35th anniversary, FHSD have been nominated three times for the awards since 2017 - making it as finalists in 2017 and trophy winners in the years after.

And the winners aren't just judged on their students' exam results. Schools have to provide evidence to show how they have nurtured the talent of their students, the opportunities given to students, the quality of their studios and more.

The school's principal, Fiona Henderson told us: "We were delighted to be nominated as finalists in 2017, win our award in 2018 let alone be nominated again in 2019 for the third year running.

"So, we are absolutely delighted to have now won Silver in the category for the largest dance schools in the country.

"Our school has had another wonderful year and all the teachers at FHSD are incredibly proud of our pupils’ achievements through their classwork, exams and show performances. It’s incredibly rewarding to be judged and recognized in this way by our industry experts."

FHSD offer classes to students of all ages, from one year old, right up to 75 years old. Dance classes range from tap, ballet, Scottish National to Burlesque.
