WITH so many musical options in Peebles, audiences are spoilt for choice when deciding what performances to see.

But this Autumn, one not to miss is the Peebles Orchestra's November concert.

On Saturday, November 16 at Kingsland Primary School, the orchestra will bring symphonies to life as conductor Tony Kime guides his own arrangements of classical pieces.

The programme will consist of Piazzolla’s 'Libertango', Gardel’s 'El Dia Que me Quieras', Rachmaninov’s 'Vocalise', Ravel’s 'La Valse' and Dvorak’s 'Nocturne for Strings'. The concert will end with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 5.

Peebles Orchestra is also asking for your help. The group owns a sketch by founding member Frank Dodman, and want your help to decide where it belongs.

Frank was an integral part of the Peebles community, joining with Claire Garnett to create the orchestra and continuing his love of art.

The orchestra are asking for ideas of where the sketch of composer, Igor Stravinsky, by Frank should be displayed.

Jane Butler-Cole from the orchestra explained: "If the sketch were to be on public display somewhere in Peebles with Frank Dodman’s story beside it, I think everyone would be happy about that.

"We also think that there could be “someone out there” who knew Frank and may wish to own the sketch.

"We will have it on display at our concert on Saturday week."
