PEEBLES Rotary has joined forces with A Gift for Peebles to provide much needed support to a variety of groups in Peebles.

Following a talk to the Rotary earlier this year, Rotarians were eager to offer their support to A Gift for Peebles in recognition of their commitment to ‘giving something back’ to the Peebles community.

A Gift for Peebles asks groups they support to send them a ‘wish list’ of items to support their activities and in the longer term helps them to become more sustainable.

Shonagh Milne, Haylodge Hospital activities group coordinator, was delighted to hear that the Rotary Club wish to support a Gift for Peebles initiative, and that they were the first of the groups to receive a donation.

Peebles Rotary President, David Duthie, fellow Rotarian Eric Ward, and A Gift for Peebles co-founder, Marion Anderson, delivered a variety of items to the group, including a record player to enable them to play some 78 records which had kindly been donated to the group, a popcorn maker for Shonagh’s extremely popular movie nights, along with arts, crafts, and cookery items, and some mirrors.

Marion said: "We hope that the gifts donated today will help patients staying at Haylodge a little easier and will enable Shonagh to concentrate on delivering her great projects and activities without the headache of sourcing and funding much needed items.

"We hope that the items we have delivered today will encourage chatter and laughter, will evoke some great memories, and that patients will enjoy the activities like baking and crafts.

"We are extremely grateful to have the Rotary on board and are excited to work with them in 2020."
