A NEW style of police report being issued to community councils across the Scottish Borders has been dubbed out of date and missing vital information.
At a meeting of Peebles Community Council, PC Diane Sorrel gave a verbal report and asked for feedback on the new Police Scotland report.
Following a spate of anti-social behaviour and vandalism in the town, she updated members of the “robust” policing efforts by Police Scotland and the Community Action Team,
Chairman Les Turnbull paid thanks to the officers for their efforts in Peebles but said he wasn’t enamoured with the new style of report.
He said: “It lacks an awful lot of detail and it’s out of date by two weeks. I know you said in your report that anti-social behaviour has fallen away but yet on the Facebook pages there does seem to have been some anti-social behaviour occurring around the town.
"For example up in the South Parks area where local residents cleared away broken glass, and there has been more damage down at Whitestone Park so that’s not reflected in here.
“There’s other things in the report, misuse of drugs for example. Police in Tweeddale received six calls regarding misuse of drugs and this resulted in a person being charged. Well where about in Tweeddale? Was it Peebles?
"These are things that we want to know because we want to make sure the public are aware of what the ongoing issues are."
