A 33-year-old man who was involved in a disturbance outside his Peebles home has been fined £200 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
David Collins pleaded guilty to repeatedly shouting and swearing and uttering threats during the bust-up in North Street on December 6.
But an allegation he brandished a knife during the incident was deleted from the charge.
Procurator fiscal Fraser Matheson said two men were walking along North Street when Collins appeared at the window of his home and began hurling abuse.
Defence lawyer Mat Patrick said the offence was very much towards the lower end of the scale and added that one of the individuals had been causing his client a degree of difficulty.
Mr Patrick said: "He was unable to control himself. He is a vulnerable individual."
In addition to the fine Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed a £10 victim surcharge.
