BORDERS homeowner Jason Connery has paid tribute to his father after Sir Sean’s death at the age of 90.

The James Bond actor died peacefully in his sleep on October 31.

Mr Connery, 57, spoke to the BBC about his father’s “wonderful gift”.

“We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time,” said Mr Connery, who has a home in the central Borders.

"It’s a sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor."

Sir Sean, from Edinburgh, starred in seven Bond films – including Never Say Never Again – and won an Oscar for his supporting role in The Untouchables (1987). He also appeared in films including the Hitchcock-directed Marnie (1964), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) and The Hunt for Red October (1990).

He died at home in the Bahamas while in the presence of “many of his family”, according to his son – who is an actor and director.
