AN INNERLEITHEN resident celebrated her 100th birthday this week.
Nancy Bald celebrated her special day on Monday.
The St Ronans Care Home resident served with the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force for four years during World War II.
Then she became a driver for the army – transporting men and aeroplane parts through England and Wales.
But it was in 1987 when Nancy moved from Edinburgh to Peebles.
She fell in love with the town after camping near Manor Brig by the Tweed, while a member of a cycling club.
She has been a resident at St Ronans for three years.
Following the celebrations on Monday, Nancy said: “It was perfect. I couldn’t have imagined anything better.”
