PEEBLES High School (PHS) has presented a ‘thank you’ gift to Galashiels Academy after the post-fire support.

Following the PHS blaze in November 2019, various halls, community centres and churches acted as classrooms.

Senior students had to travel a little further for their learning, but they were welcomed with open arms by neighbouring secondary school Galashiels Academy.

And the Peebles pupils have never forgotten how well they were treated in their time of need.

Now, as an expression of gratitude, a high-quality prize-giving cup has been presented to the Galashiels school.

The cup is inscribed: “The Galashiels Academy Cup for Respect Shown To Others, donated by a grateful Peebles High School”.

A spokesperson for the PHS parent council said: “We were warmly welcomed by Galashiels Academy and all the community in our time of need.

“We hope this award will remind the school every year of our ongoing appreciation for what they did for us.”
