A DRUNK woman spat in the face of police officers after they tried to help her home.

Gemma Gollogy lashed out after she became aggressive.

Police were informed about a heavily intoxicated female at a retail park and officers tried to help the 28-year-old on December 6, 2020.

Gollogy yelled: “I can’t go home, f*****g jail me,f*****g jail me.”

Prosecutor Jacob Tomnay said: “She failed to provide any reason as to why she could not go home.

"She failed to give an address where she could go and thrashed around in the police car.

“She was handcuffed and continued to kick her legs in the vehicle.”

She was taken to Govan Police Station and spat at officer Alan Mitchell striking his left cheek and eye while in custody.

When she was placed under arrest the next day, she said she was “sorry” for her actions.

Gollogy pleaded guilty to charges of assault and threatening or abusive behaviour today at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Defence lawyer Bob McDowell told the court: “She was distressed and drunk in the car.”

Sheriff Paul Crozier deferred the sentencing until next month.
