A NEIGHBOUR from hell wreaked havoc on a elderly couple.

Yasmin Shariff, 40, lunged at the pensioners and called them "b******s" at her flat in Townhead.

She was found guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court of behaving in an abusive manner and breaching an anti-social behaviour order.

Samuel and Margaret McConnell, both 86, were coming back from having breakfast when Shariff followed behind them into the communal close.

The court heard from both Mr and Mrs McConnell.

Prosecutor Kavin Ryan-Hume asked Mr McConnell what he had been doing on the morning of July 28, 2020.

"My wife and I went for breakfast and then to get a newspaper, then we came home."

“They were coming in behind us and she (Shariff) was screaming in a foreign language - the man got her away."

"She tried to assault us. She struggled against the man and called us b*****ds."

The prosecutor then asked: “Who was the man?”

Mr. McConnell replied: “I didn’t recognise him, he was just someone with her.”

The prosecutor then went on to ask how they felt after the encounter.

"I was worried for my wife, she was trembling. She's 86 you know."

Mrs McConnell went on to tell the court she had been to court before with Shariff before over issues.

Shariff was under an anti-social behaviour order at the time due to previously having issues with the couple over noise and scaring her neighbours.

Mr. Ryan-Hume asked her how Mrs McConnell how she had felt.

She said: "I was terrified at the time and haven't been the same since."

Shariff, who has lived in her flat for 18 years with three of her children, said that she was angry at them due to the constant complaints they have made about her.

Her Lawyer, Ron Mackenna asked if she felt sorry about what happened.

"I feel sorry about it."

Mr Mackenna then asked: "Do you want to be move away?"

She answered: "Yes, I think it would be better. I feel sorry for them, they say I'm too loud. I think I should move soon to stop bothering them."

The couple contacted the police soon after and Shariff was placed in custody.

Sheriff Stuart Reid warned her: "You must stay away from Mr and Mrs McConell.”

Sentencing was deferred till next month by the Sheriff.

Shariff remains on bail meantime.
