THE Borders recorded no coronavirus-related death last week, new data shows.

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) published an update today October 13, covering the week October 4-10.

In the week prior to October 4 the region had recorded one death where coronavirus was listed on the death certificate.

This is the first time in eight weeks that the region has recorded no deaths by this measure – the last instance was in the week commencing August 9.

The total number of deaths in the region stands at 79 this year and 183 since the start of the pandemic.

According to the NRS data, as at October 10 there have been a total of 11,262 deaths registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
