EXCITEMENT is building in Tweeddale as today marks two weeks until Whipman Week.

The first common riding in the Borders, the Whipman Play Society is set to feature a week of fun activities, including some new additions for 2022, from June 3-11.

The week begins with the best dressed house or shop competition. Entries should be sent to Carol Weir with your name and address by June 2, via text on 07956 436517 or e-mail a.cweir@btinternet.com.

The Whipman Rideout will leave Howieson Hall at 10am and will return to the village by 3.30pm.

A number of events can be enjoyed for the rest of the week including the Whipman Booksale, market, pillow fight, sports day, and Lyne Up Music Festival.

And new events this year include a silent disco and quiz night.

  • Tuesday, June 7, 9.30am-8pm – Tea and Tots Fun Morning, Junior Disco (children not yet at school), Junior Disco (P4-P7), Quiz Night
  • Wednesday, June 8, 6.30-8pm – Cross Country Events, Bogie Races, Wheelbarrow Races, Pillow Fight
  • Thursday, June 9, 6-8pm – Junior Rugby (P1-P7), Secondary Rugby (S1-S6), Comedy Show
