THE Four Muskateers for Guide Dogs successfully completed the Big Stroll as part of the Kiltwalk challenge in Edinburgh on Sunday.

And they have exceeded their £600 target by more than £100 with every penny raised going to the Guide Dogs charity.

Shona Ramsay from Jedburgh and Jan Shirley, from Oxnam accompanied by Dougal and Rowlfie completed the 14.7 miles in under five hours.

Guide Dogs is a charity close to their hearts as they have provided not just one, but two Guide Dogs for Shona over the years.

Having a Guide Dog gives Shona her eyes and independence back and every year the pair complete a walk to help boost the charity’s coffers.

It costs around £60,000 to fund a guide dog from birth to retirement and the cost is funded from the charity, not the government or NHS as many people believe

In a joint statement afterwards, the intrepid quartet said: “Well, firstly, thank you to everyone who donated to our fundraising. We have raised an amazing £710 and couldn't be more delighted.

“We walked 14.7 miles on Sunday in 4 hours, 43 minutes and 27 seconds! It was fine dry day and we thoroughly enjoyed the chit chat along the way and the comradery of everyone walking for their favourite and well deserving causes.

“Lots of love from Shona, Dougal, Rowlfie and Jan xxxx!”
