It comes after the River Tweed burst its banks in the town.

Paul Spence, from the Peebles Resilient Community Group, said: "Due to the high level of water on Tweed Green we have opened the Burgh Hall.

"Could anyone assist in serving tea and coffee if needed. If so please head to the Burgh Hall."
A total of 17 flood warnings were issued for the Borders.

Scottish Borders Alert update
"SBC and partners are continuing to monitor the flooding situation across the Scottish Borders.
Key Information:
"River levels in Peebles peaked at 5.15pm this evening and are anticipated to recede later this evening and through the night.
"Surface water will continue to affect roads right across the region throughout tonight and into tomorrow. And drivers should drive to the conditions."
