AN 11-year-old Peebles schoolgirl’s forthcoming trip to compete at Crufts has been sponsored by Stobo Castle.
Brooke Bain won her first show at Bowhill House last year.
And that was followed up with a victory at Kelso which ensured a qualifier to the world’s greatest dog show.
She will be taking part in the under 12 agility event with her grandmother Jackie’s Catalan cross terrier, Timmi, who was rescued in Spain and brought to the Borders as a pup in 2015.
Last Friday Timmi visited Stobo to express his gratitude and show off his luxury transport and accommodation for the 277-mile trip.
Elliott Winyard, the venue's managing director, said: “Jackie’s been our breakfast chef for 11 years so when we heard about Brooke’s qualification for Crufts we were absolutely delighted and proud to sponsor the trip.
“It’s such an incredible achievement.”
Jackie added: “I’d like to thank the Winyard family for their kind gesture.”
Jackie’s brother John Tait, from Musselburgh, will be driving the group to the event in his Motor Home where they will stay to help with the expenses.
Brooke said: “I’m so excited and really looking forward to going to Crufts. My friends think it’s so cool.
“I’ve been training with Timmi on astroturf to get him used to the surface and he seems to go even faster.
“But no matter what happens I am so proud of how far we have come and I’d like to thank Mr and Mrs Winyard and family at Stobo Castle for sponsoring us.”
Crufts will take place between Thursday, March 9 and Sunday, March 12 at the NEC in Birmingham. The event will be televised on Chanel 4 and More 4.
