A MAN has appeared from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court and admitted driving while more than double the legal limit.
Thirty-three-year-old Yurii Shvets pleaded guilty to driving with a breath/alcohol count of 45 microgrammes – the legal limit being 22 – in Innerleithen Road, Peebles, on Tuesday.
The court heard that Shvets, of Kerse Road, Grangemouth, had been visiting his partner in Peebles when he committed the offence and is due to be called up for the Ukrainian army for the conflict with Russia.
He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and given 28 days to pay the £300 and £20 Victim Surcharge.
