A BORDERS man has received a 30-month jail sentence after being found guilty of assaulting a woman with a baseball bat in a domestic-related incident.
Thirty-nine-year-old Paul Aries had denied the attack on the woman at a house in Hawick on March 7 last year.
But following a jury trial at Jedburgh Sheriff Court he was found guilty of threatening the woman with violence, repeatedly striking her on the body with a baseball bat and seizing her by the neck and compressing it to her injury.
The jail sentence of two-and-a-half years was back-dated to March 8, 2022, when Aries was first remanded in custody in connection with the assault.
It means he will be due for release this summer.
