Close to 60 people took part in the Sprint Triathlon with Veitch continuing his brilliant eries, winning the event with a time of 01:06:24.

He said: “The number of participants was down compared to normal which is a shame as Eyemouth Tri is a great event with a tough but great course for novices and race hacks.

“The bike course at Eyemouth is tough with a lot of hills and windy conditions which suits me. I was able to make up time and take the lead just before the halfway point. Going onto the run I had about a minute buffer.

“The run course is also tough going and favours stronger runners rather than all out speedsters. Again this suits me and I was able to hold onto the lead to the finish line.”
