POLICE have renewed their appeal in their search for a missing 86-year-old - advising that people search their outbuilding and land.

James (Jim) Cockburn was last seen at around 11am on Thursday, June 29 in Town Yetholm.

Officers believe Mr Cockburn was travelling in his red Ford Fiesta with the registration ET18 XFO.

Inspector Rachel Campbell, from Melrose Police Station, said: “We are really seeking public help here due to the rural location and complex road network, as well as being close to the Border with Northumberland.

"We are asking the public to check their outbuildings and sheds and landowners to check field boundaries.

"We would also like to see Ring doorbell and dash-cam footage in the area of Town Yetholm.

"If you're out in the area this weekend, please keep the search for Jim in mind."

Mr Cockburn is described as being 6ft tall, with broad shoulders, grey thinning hair, and is clean shaven.

He was last seen wearing a blue checked shirt and grey jogging bottoms.

If you may have seen Mr Cockburn or his car, or have any information on his whereabouts, please call police on 101, quoting incident number 3837 of 29 June, 2023.
