STEALING his former partner's wheelie bin from her home in Cuddyside, Peebles, cost Scott West £210.

The 48-year-old from Peebles pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to the offence which happened on February 2.

Selkirk Sheriff Court heard the partner was woken shortly after 2am up by noise and a camera fitted showed the bin being removed from a communal area.

Defence lawyer Liam Alexander said: "It's all a bit bizarre. There is no real explanation why my client did this."

West was fined £150 with a £10 victim surcharge. He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to his ex-partner.
