A YELLOW weather warning for strong winds has been issued by the Met Office.

The warning covers much of the UK including the Scottish Borders comes into effect at 10am on Wednesday September 27 and runs through to 7am on Thursday September 28.

 

 

According to the Met Office there is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris and a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.

There is also a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

Longer journey times are likely, or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected. Some roads and bridges are likely to close.

There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties; with a chance of some minor flooding of coastal roads.

Yellow means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day to day activities.

The Met Office is monitoring the developing weather situation and Yellow means keep an eye on the latest forecast and be aware that the weather may change or worsen, leading to disruption of your plans in the next few days.
