A WARNING has been issued for heavy rain towards the end of this week.
From 3pm on Thursday, October 5 until midnight (11.59pm) on Friday, October 6 a yellow warning for heavy rain will be in place.
The warning - which will mainly affect areas such as Hawick, Ettrick and Tweedsmuir - could result in poor driving conditions due to spray and flooding on roads, with the additional risks of cancelled bus and train services and power cuts.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "Locally heavy and persistent rain is expected to develop on Thursday and Friday.
"For lower-lying and southern parts of the warning area, 25 to 50 mm is likely to fall, with 75 mm in a few locations."
After the wet weather the Borders is expected to enjoy a milder weekend, with forecasts showing drizzle in places, but with many areas forecasted to have sunny intervals and a moderate breeze, with temperatures reaching 19 degrees.
This week's warning has a very low likelihood and medium imopact according to the Met Office's warning impact matrix.
