A MAN has been jailed at Glasgow High Court following a fatal incident on the A72 between Innerleithen and Walkerburn.

Today (Thursday, October 5) 48-year-old Andrew Taylor was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving whilst under the influence of drugs in a crash on April 23, 2022.

Mr Taylor has also been disqualified from driving for 16 years.

The crash led to the death of 60-year-old motorcyclist Brian Wilson, from Newtongrange.

Mr Wilson died at the scene of the crash last spring.

Chief Inspector Mark Patterson said: "This sentencing can never reflect the devastating impact that Brian's death has had on his family and friends and our thoughts remain with them.

“Drivers are responsible for their actions and the risks they take have lasting consequences."

Following the crash last April Mr Wilson's family said: "We are utterly devastated by the tragic loss of our much loved husband, father, father-in-law and papa.

"He has been taken from us far too soon and will be sorely missed by all who knew him."
