NHS Borders staff are still under extreme pressure at the Borders General Hospital Emergency Department.

And people are being asked to only attend in life threatening emergencies.

NHS24 should be contacted in the first instance and it will signpost people to the right place to get the advice or care that they need.

In addition residents are being asked to take loved ones home as soon as they are well enough to be discharged.

A spokesperson said: “Extreme pressures in our Emergency Department and across the BGH are continuing.

“Please help us by taking your loved one home as soon as they are well enough to be discharged.

”Unless it is a life-threatening emergency, please call NHS 24 on 111 before you attend our Emergency Department.

They will signpost you to the right place to get the advice or care that you need.”
