BORDERS actor Jack Lowden is back on TV this week in the acclaimed spy series Slow Horses.
The hugely popular show returns for its third season after almost a year of waiting.
The new season will be based on the third novel in Mick Herron's Slough House series Real Tigers, and will see a romantic liaison in Istanbul threatening to expose a buried MI5 secret in London.
The central conceit of the books is that MI5, like any large organisation, needs somewhere to place its most hopeless employees, and this place is Slough House, a building just around the corner from the Barbican Centre.

Lowden who was brought up in Oxton plays River Cartwright who was sent to Slough House following a botched training exercise left King’s Cross crashed. He was raised by his grandfather, David, an MI5 legend, and grew up hearing stories of his time in the service.
Gary Oldman plays his boss Jackson Lamb.
The official synopsis reads: "When Jackson Lamb and his team of misfits are dragged into the fight, they find themselves caught in a conspiracy that threatens the future not just of Slough House but of MI5 itself."

The first two episodes aired on on Apple TV on Wednesday November 29 with subsequent episodes airing weekly until Friday 29th December.
