SCOTLAND’S best-known military band are set to end their national tour with a “fabulous” performance in the Borders.

The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland have played a series of concerts in support of armed forces charity Poppyscotland.

And their tour is concluding with a show at Selkirk’s Victoria Halls on Friday (December 8).

It will include well-loved music from film and TV, as well as a folk-inspired collaboration with Hawick musician Alan Brydon.

Gordon Michie, Poppyscotland’s head of fundraising & learning, said: “This has been an unmissable chance to hear the internationally-acclaimed Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland at local venues around Scotland, and we are so glad that the tour is having a fitting end at the beautiful Victoria Halls in Selkirk.

“The concert promises to be an unforgettable evening, featuring famous TV tunes and movie favourites, as well as folk music guaranteed to get your feet tapping. They are always very popular, so we’d encourage music lovers to buy their tickets as soon as possible.

“We’re very grateful to the band and Alan Brydon for their continued support. All funds raised will help us continue our vital work, supporting current and former servicemen and women and their families, which is needed more than ever during this cost-of-living crisis.”

The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, based at Dreghorn Barracks, Edinburgh, is one of the 22 regular army bands, and is made up of musicians who are also serving soldiers.

As well as supporting the army and performing at ceremonial occasions across Scotland, they have also played around the world, travelling to Hong Kong, New Zealand, Switzerland and Canada in recent years.

Tickets cost £15 (£12 concessions) and are available from www.poppyscotland.org.uk/BandTour.

Tickets will also be available from Victoria Halls’ box office on the evening of the show.

Doors open at 7pm, with the performance starting at 7:30pm. The show concludes at 10pm.
