Two East Lothian businesses are joining forces to offer a special experience for whisky enthusiasts.

The Bonnie Badger, in Gullane, and Glenkinchie Distillery, near Pencaitland, are partnering to offer an exclusive distillery tour and dinner.

The experience will give guests the chance to sample some rare whiskies and then enjoy a four-course dinner.

The experience will begin with a welcome dram at Glenkinchie Distillery, followed by a journey through its unique sensory rooms.

Whisky enthusiasts will go on to gain an insight into Glenkinchie’s model distillery – the only one of its kind in Scotland – before enjoying a tour of the production site and finishing with the chance to draw from a cask in maturation and sample a taste of the Glenkinchie 16-year-old distillery exclusive.

Guests will then be invited back to The Bonnie Badger, where they will enjoy a four-course menu exploring East Lothian flavours and ingredients, while drawing on the tasting notes of Glenkinchie’s whiskies.

The dinner will also include an opportunity to sample some of Glenkinchie’s rare whiskies.

Hosted by experts from Glenkinchie and the team from The Bonnie Badger, guests will be guided through the bespoke menu, learning more about local food and drink along the way.

Tom Kitchin, chef owner of The Bonnie Badger, said: “There is so much to discover when it comes to the world of whisky.

“Whisky is one of Scotland’s biggest exports and one of our proudest assets.

“Over the years, I have enjoyed learning more about whisky and, indeed, using whisky in my cooking in different ways, from creating a twist on a classic with a Whisky Baba and developing full-of-flavour sauces in my seasonal cooking, to using sawdust from whisky barrels to smoke different ingredients, creating a really unique taste.

“Partnering with Glenkinchie has allowed us to offer our guests a truly Scottish experience and we can’t wait to welcome whisky enthusiasts to enjoy the best of Scotland’s outstanding produce.”

The event, which costs £220 per person, is on April 4. Reservations can be made by emailing info@ bonniebadger.com or calling 01620 621111
