Volunteers at a North Berwick group enjoyed a party thanking them for their support.

More than 20 North Berwick Volunteer Car Scheme (NBVCS) volunteers and board members attended the social gathering at chairman Gordon Symon’s home in the town.

Charity co-ordinator Bex MacRobert said that she “wanted to arrange a thank you to the volunteers for all of their kindness and willingness to help those in our community that most need it”.

Car scheme users donated wine, beer and other drinks, as well as sweet treats and money towards tasty bites for the gathering.

Ms MacRobert said: “A huge thank you to all who donated something and especially North Berwick Co-op’s Lorna Raeburn and Hailley McCaffrey for donating 60 delicious mince pies and some soft drinks.”

NBCVS volunteers offer lifts to residents in and around North Berwick who are unable to make it to shops, GP appointments or other destinations.

The group is looking for more volunteers who can spare about one hour a month to drive elderly or infirm residents to medical appointments or social gatherings to help tackle isolation.
