Over the Easter Break, I was lucky enough to take a trip to the beautiful country of Vietnam in South-East Asia. My family and I visited such places as Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Ha Long Bay and Hanoi.

Our first destination was Ho Chi Minh City, otherwise known as Saigon, we visited the Independence Palace, a mansion built in 1968 as the home for the president of South Vietnam during the war. Following this we made our way to the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon, constructed in the 1800s by their colonial French powers, hence the familiar name. Saigon is also home to the iconic Ben Thanh market, a massive 13,000 square metre market of around 6000 tenants selling Vietnamese, luxury and consumable goods. Our next visit was to the well-known Chu Chi tunnels just north of Saigon. We were able to crouch our way through the incredibly small tunnels and eat tapioca, the diet of many Vietnamese soldiers. We were even able to shoot real firearms such as an AK47, M6 and M60. Overall, Saigon was well worth the visit.

Next, we spent a few days at a resort on the beautiful island of Phu Quoc off the south coast of Vietnam. With its beautiful beaches, incredible snorkelling and dense inland jungle, I would also recommend a visit.

Following this, we spend two days on a small cruise boat in the scenic Ha Long Bay, near Hanoi. It features beautiful limestone karts and islets as well as its perfect jade-green sea. Here, we were able to kayak around the islets and went on a tour of the floating fishing village of Cu Than.

Our trip finally ended in the capital of Hanoi, in the North. We were able to visit the touristy Hanoi Old Quarter, Hoan Thiem Lake, and the famous Train Street, where a train passes mere centimetres from your seat in a cafe.

This was overall, one of my favourite trips ever, Vietnam was stunning and I certainly recommend a visit.
