As expected, Livingston tried to rumble their way up field by picking and going round the corner but our turnover experts in the back row regularly stopped their drives and got the ball out and away for the 'piano-players’. Sadly though, they had obviously picked up the wrong music sheet at the start with miss-timed passes and taking contact when the ball needed to be shipped wide.

A quick tap of the conductor’s baton and some new up tempo music soon saw the harmonies return and scoreboard begin to turn. Two well worked tries made by the piano-shifters were finished off out wide for a half-time 12 point lead.

Livingston started well in the second half with a concerted period of pressure in the Peebles 22 but stout defence of their line by Peebles turned back each wave of Livingston runners and after a penalty they were able to lift the siege.

Thereafter the tempo and the melody became much more to the liking of the home support.

Three more tries followed, with a particularly fine finale off a straight run from deep completely cutting through the confused defence to go in untouched under the posts. The message about running straight may be getting through! Depite the 'players’ again hogging the score sheet the 'shifters’ deserve huge credit for stopping the opposition. Good ball carrying by Adam, Keir and Shaun and Callum M in particular left the back row free to lend a hand out wide. An under 16s debut today too with Alex Tate pulling on the overalls (rather than a tuxedo) to take the field just after half time.

Well done sir, and bring your boots next Sunday! Final Score Peebles 31 - 0 Livingston. The lads have lost but once at Jim’s this season.
