In a change to previous tournaments, the Colts (main sponsor BARC Coach Hire) have made the decision to drop from a 16 team straight knockout competition to a 12 team/four pool format which ensures that all teams have at least two games to play.
Pool A contains Biggar Colts, high flying Jed Thistle, and last year’s runners up Melrose Wasps, while Pool B holds last year’s league winners Hawick Wanderers, Tynedale Colts and Kelso Harlequins. Host team Peebles Colts contest Pool C alongside BATS from Edinburgh and last year’s winners Gala Wanderers, while Pool D is made up of Selkirk Youth Club, Duns Colts and Hawick PSA.
The tournament is run in association with Peeblesshire Youth Trust and the Colts would also like to thank other sponsors on the day, namely Evolution Asset Management, Impact Landscapes, Jersey Stretchers, Graham and Susan Bell, and Peebles 1stXV.
Action kicks off at 1.30pm with the first tie between Melrose Wasps and Biggar Colts. Come along and watch the future of Borders Rugby.
