THE Border Amateur League’s last representative in the Scottish Cup were dumped out of the competition in Glasgow.

Under-strength Hawick United suffered a 6-1 loss at Broomhouse in the third round, with Kevin Strathdee scoring United’s consolation goal.

Elsewhere, Canonbie side CFC Bowholm won their first Collie Cup for five years with a 4-2 win over St Boswells at Ancrum’s Bridgend ground.

Marc Gardiner and Alan McLean both scored doubles as West Barns Star won 5-1 at Stow to move to the top of Division A.

Tweeddale Rovers picked up their first league victory since August with a vital 2-1 win over Gordon.

Blair Meikle and Marty Cunningham found the net for Rovers to boost the Peebles side’s hopes of remaining in Division A.

Scott Duncan fired in all four of Hawick Legion’s goals in a thrilling draw with Coldstream Amateurs in Division B.

Duncan’s efforts ensured Legion moved a point clear at the top of the league, having played a game more than second placed Newtown and five more matches than third placed Hawick United.

Daniel Chapman scored two goals for Kelso Thistle but it was not enough to stop the Tweedsiders losing 5-4 to Linton Hotspur, who jumped to fourth in the league as a result.

Leithen Rovers look set for their second relegation in a row after suffering an 8-2 hammering at home to Biggar United.

And Duns Amateurs moved into second place in Division C after Sean Spoors’ double and goals from Sean Robertson, James Brydon and Ross Hutchison saw them thump Melrose 5-0.
