Peebles 22

Stewart's Melville 17

PEEBLES earned revenge over Stewart's Melville with a thrilling finale to take the win.

Lewis Bertram's team suffered a 22-7 defeat during the initial fixture at Inverleith.

And going into the closing stages of Saturday's clash, it looked like the Edinburgh team would come out on top yet again.

Peebles started well despite the boggy conditions with Kieran Brown scoring out wide.

The visitors responded with a penalty.

But Greg Raeburn stretched the advantage to 8-3 with a kick midway through the half.

And approaching half time Ryan Stewart finished off a fine forwards' move to score Peebles' second try.

Raeburn converted to give the Pees a 15-3 lead.

Stewart's Melville began to exert themselves on the game early in the second half.

And the visitors managed to score two converted tries in the space of 12 minutes to edge in front by 17 points to 15 with less that quarter of an hour to go.

Peebles rallied in the closing stages with Ross Brown going over for a try.

Donald Anderson's conversion took the score to 22-17.

And a further Anderson penalty gave the Pees the cushion they needed.
