PEEBLES Rovers are going for youth with the appointment of their next manager.

Ryan Bisset, who is 23, will become the youngest gaffer in the East of Scotland conferences when he takes charge at Whitestone Park in the summer.

The highly-rated coach, who has enjoyed a spell with Chicago Fire in the MLS, replaces outgoing manager Allan McDonald.

Ryan told us: “I managed briefly at Arniston Rangers and enjoyed my time there so I’m delighted Peebles have given me a second chance at management.

“I have had good discussions with the committee and my first job will be re-signing most of the current squad."

The former St Ronan's and Peebles High pupil, who lives in Innerleithen, studied football at Borders College.

And over the past four summers has taken coaching holidays in America to pass on tips of the game.

But this year he will working round the clock to turn Peebles into challengers for the new look East conferences next season.

Ryan added: “I know it is going to be hard work but we are aiming to be a top three team next season.

“We have a good squad of players here at Peebles and I hope to add two or three more players to strengthen.”
