Whitecraigs 10

Biggar 66

THERE was a sense of frustration and consternation in the Biggar camp at the weekend when, just after the club had forfeited the scheduled seconds match against Cartha due to lack of numbers, Preston Lodge made the same decision ahead of the scheduled firsts National Two match.

With there being no chance of resurrecting even a friendly with Cartha the senior players were left without a match.

But up stepped Whitecraigs who had a mixed firsts/seconds side willing to play!

And so a squad of 17 set out for Glasgow, returning on the back of a good run out and winning by a large margin.

Around half of the 17 had seen at least some first team action this season with the rest a mixture of seconds, Colts and others turning out because the match was close at hand... Andrew Goodall one such individual who made his customary very telling contribution to the cause.

Tries were scored by Alisdair Sinclair, Davy Reive, Jack Warnock (2), Rowan Stewart (2), Gregor Stewart, James Barr, Andrew Peacock and Euan Bogle while Warnock (3) and Bogle (5) added conversions.

Whitecraigs started the second half in much better form to grab two tries but Biggar got back into their stride after these scores to run out comfortably.

Credit to all who played and made a cold afternoon very entertaining.
