VALE of Leithen are hosting a public meeting next week in a bid to gather support for ground improvements at Victoria Park.

The Lowland League club face a race against time to meet Scottish Football Association criteria for remaining a member club.

And top of the list is floodlights.

Vale chairman Stuart Robertson hopes the fresh SFA requirements can lead to more sustainable community facility being created in Innerleithen.

He told us: "We have asked all the football and athletics clubs in the town to come along to the meeting.

"This isn't just about the Vale, if we want to do this properly it has to be about creating something for all of us.

"We need ideas and we hope by bringing everyone together we can make a start at creating a community facility to benefit us all."

The three local councillors have also been invited to the meeting at the Vale Club on Tuesday evening.

And an open invite for anyone else who is interested in developing Victoria Park for the community has also been made.

Tuesday evening's meeting is due to start at 7pm.
