BORDERS middle-distance runner Chris O'Hare retained one of the most prestigious indoor mile titles in world athletics at the weekend.
And he did it by running the fastest time in the world this year.
The 29-year-old from West Linton clocked 3.55.62 as he won the Millrose Games race in New York.
Chris took up the pace at the bell and managed to kick clear going round the final two bends.
After breaking the tape, the former British and Scottish champion celebrated by taking his two children on a lap of honour.
Chris said: "I knew if I stayed smooth and strided out I would put myself in with a good chance.
"I looked back at the final turn and thought maybe I'd missed someone as I had a gap - I looked again on the home straight just to make sure."
Australia's Ollie Hoare finished second ahead of American Rob Napolitano and Nick Willis of New Zealand.
Chris first won the Millrose Games mile in 2018.
